Alpaca wool tapestry, 'Show Horse'

The Caballo de Paso is a specially trained horse in Peru, its steady, natural gait captivating to spectators during equestrian exhibitions. Often displayed in folkloric festivals and events, this graceful creature inspires the Cardenas Brothers in the creation of this alpaca tapestry. Soft brown hues characterize the figure, contrasted by a single white cross between its expressive eyes. The Cardenas Brothers are dedicated to the preservation of Peru�s textile legacy and San Pedro de Cajas's renowned hand-loomed technique, characterized by its vivid, limpid imagery. The artisans dye threads of alpaca wool (90%) and cotton (10%) with organic extracts such as those from the cochineal insect, eucalyptus, or molle tree, among others, while also employing industrial dyes for the stronger hues.
